U.S. Chamber, Greater High Desert Chamber Host U.S. Representative Jay Obernolte for Roundtable on Tax Reform

APPLE VALLEY, CA – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Greater High Desert Chamber recently hosted U.S. Representative Jay Obernolte (R-CA-23) for a roundtable discussion in Apple Valley, California with local business leaders on the need to extend pro-growth business tax provisions before portions of President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expire at the end of the year. Doing so will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.

Absent Congressional action, the country will see the largest automatic tax increase in American history. U.S. Representative Jay Obernolte is on the frontlines, working to ensure that the constituents of the 23rd District of California will not face this massive tax increase at the end of 2025.

“The House’s passage of H.R. 1—the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’—is an important step toward renewing pro-growth tax provisions that are set to expire at the end of this year,” said Jennings Imel, Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate Congressman Obernolte’s support on this issue and willingness to sit down with small business owners in the High Desert to discuss their tax priorities. Today’s conversation made clear the need to extend and make permanent pro-growth tax policies that’ll allow local businesses to invest and create jobs.”

“As a small business owner in California, I know firsthand how high taxes hurt families and make it harder to grow a business,” said Congressman Obernolte. “That’s why I’m fighting for real tax reform that stops tax hikes and lets working families and small businesses keep more of what they earn. We need a tax code that rewards hard work—not one that punishes success.”

“We were honored to partner with the U.S. Chamber in hosting this tax policy roundtable with Congressman Jay Obernolte,” said Mark Creffield, President and CEO of the Greater High Desert Chamber of Commerce. “The Greater High Desert Chamber is committed to expanding economic opportunity for job creators in our region, which is why today’s tax policy discussion with Rep. Obernolte is so important. We appreciate Congressman Obernolte taking the time to meet with our businesses and his ongoing support for policies that’ll help our members grow and prosper.”

The U.S. Chamber’s tax roundtables are the latest effort in its Growing America’s Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. These events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
