As part of the reform strategy of the Federal Government, the National Council on Privatisation has approved the appointment of Advisers for the three transactions undertaken by the Bureau of Public Enterprises for 2018.
The Head, Public Communications in BPE, Amina Othman, said in a statement on Thursday in Abuja that the decision was reached at the end of NCP’s fourth meeting for the year.
Othman added that the meeting was presided over by Kemi Adeosun, Vice-Chairman of the council and Minister of Finance.
The approvals are for the partial commercialisation of the River Basin Development Authorities, partial commercialisation of the National Parks Service and the seven National Parks.
It also approved the concession of eco-tourism activities in three selected parks and the concession of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.
Othman said that the council approved the engagement of Agri-Africa Consultants as well as A and E Law Partnership Consortium for the transaction advisory services for the.
Similarly, the council also approved the engagement of Africa Wildlife Foundation for advisory services for the seven National Parks and concession of eco-tourism activities in three selected parks.
For the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Feedback Infrastructure Services was approved as the transaction advisers, she said.
Othman recalled that the council had initially approved the commencement of the partial commercialisation of the 12 RBDAs in the country.
She said: “The objective is to strengthen and improve the RBDAs by making them economically viable and to also introduce Public Private Partnership (PPP) into the sector without divesting government ownership.
“The transaction is to be carried out in phases with the pilot transaction on four out of the 12 RBDAs.”
