4th International Trade Exhibition for West Africa opens in Accra

The 4th edition of International Trade Exhibition agro-food and plastprintpack West Africa 2017 has opened in Accra with the aim of adding value to the modernisation of the West African Agrofood and Plastprintpack industry.

The exhibition which commenced on December 5 and expected to end on December 7, 2017, is featuring over 90 exhibitors from 21 countries.

Among the participants are those from Algeria, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Iran, Italy, Korea, Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanaweb.com, some of the exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the programme.

Some foreign exhibitors who are part of the fair are optimistic about the outcome as they are aware that Ghana has a large and vibrant market.

“We’re private Algerian country based in North Africa. We’re targeting Ghanaian market. We’re far away from Ghana but we’re here because we want to distribute our products here,” one of the foreign exhibitors said.

An exhibit from a Chinese food distribution and export company also said even though this is their first time in Ghana, they have discovered that the country is strategically placed for business advancement.

“The people are friendly and the market is very big. And also our tomato pastes and can fish, people like them too much so I think we can get many orders from this fair,” the Chinese exhibitor noted.

Managing Director of Fairtrade Messe, Martin Marz in an exclusive interview with Ghanaweb.com said the 4th International Trade Exhibition agrofood and plastprintpack West Africa 2017 would open West African countries to foreign investment.

According to Mr. Marz, the fair which has brought together both local and international business experts will promote exchange of knowledge and expose the local companies to foreign investors.

“… There’s plenty of the right people, the good audience and this is about 1,500 professionals that we’re tackling from Ghana and from the area. We definitely hope to achieve technology transfer, knowhow transfer from the international companies to the Ghanaian and West African companies,” he revealed.
